Do you want to know your Zodiac compatibility with the zodiac love compatibility calculator above? This section of askAstrology will take you through every Zodiac sign combination, so you can learn your compatibility with the sign of anyone in your life!

Each sign of the Zodiac expresses certain energies in certain ways. There are four elements: air, earth, fire, and water. Air represents thought; earth represents practical life; fire represents an action; and water represents emotions. There are three qualities: cardinal, fixed, and mutable. Cardinal signs lead; fixed signs establish, and mutable signs adapt.

Each sign influences the energy of how we love, work, play, raise a family, make friends, and so on. If you were born between August 23rd to September 22nd, you have a Virgo Sun sign. If you happen to be born on the 19th, 20th, 21st, or 22nd of August or September, you should use our natal chart calculator to be sure of your Sun sign because you are “born on the cusp” of a sign.

Virgo: The Mutable Earth Sign

Virgo rules invention, nutrition, service, and critical thinking. Often known as “the perfectionist” or “the problem-solver”, Virgo connects to the world through its energy to fix what is broken, establish protocols, and pay attention to the details.

This sign rules practical concerns and the necessities of everyday life, connecting to the world through everyday experiences and mundane matters.

As the ruler of the 6th House, its energy oversees service, skills, health, and day-to-day work. Someone with a Virgo Sun, Moon, or Ascendant (but especially the Ascendant) will seek to manage the details of life and work towards perfection.

Virgo and Love

The Virgo parent, child, or lover shows and feels love when they can find and enjoy a routine and have control over the daily matters of life. They are naturally discriminating and critically minded and are more flexible than Taurus and less ambitious than Capricorn. There is a deep need to be in control of their environment and to know how things work.

This sign, like all the earth signs, is practical and realistic … turned on by stability, reliability, and financial success. They are some of the best and most adept masters of the status quo. The more they are challenged to make things work, the more turned on they become. They like to build measurable success in the world with their partners; they love being supportive.

Virgo, Love, and the 12 Signs

Virgo and Aries

Aries is a cardinal fire sign that likes to “go for it” in love. This sign inconjuncts Virgo, which means they constantly must adjust to one another. Virgo is meticulous and detailed-oriented, Aries is not! Aries is great out of the gate while Virgo prefers to solve problems that can be quite complex.

If Virgo can take over after the Aries person initiates and be allowed to finish what Aries started, this combination can achieve a lot and have a lasting relationship. Aries will need to “follow the rules” the Virgo person establishes, and in doing so, will probably avoid a lot of problems that come from leaping before looking.

Virgo and Taurus

Taurus is the fixed earth sign that likes to “settle down” in love. As another earth sign, these two signs end up training one another, which means their energies interact by flowing into each other. This energy will work well together.

The earth signs do the best with each other since all three are practical and concerned with material comfort or success. Like the Taurus/Gemini relationship, this one has the Virgo adapting to the Taurus, which can be a great match if both parties are satisfied with their roles and by the other person.

Virgo and Gemini

Gemini is the mutable air sign that likes to “learn and communicate” in love. These signs square, or challenge, one another. This combination can make the relationship work hard to succeed since Virgo can be intensely detail-oriented and Gemini can be starting, but not finishing multiple things that interest them.

They will have to find a way to connect through short-term projects and activities so the Virgo person does not feel frustrated by too much going on and not enough getting done and the Gemini individual does not feel restricted by long-term planning, which can tax their attention span.

Virgo and Cancer

Cancer is the cardinal water sign that likes to “nurture” in love. This sign sextiles Virgo, meaning that these energies complement one another. Remember that, for Virgo, love is service. In this case, Cancer will be nurturing to Virgo, and Virgo will make sure Cancer’s daily worries are taken care of regularly. This can be one of the best combinations – enduring, deeply loving, and loyal.

Virgo and Leo

Leo is the fixed fire sign that likes to “romance” in love. These signs sit side-by-side, so they can learn from each other without the dissonant energy of the inconjunct or square that happens when fire and earth or air and earth connect otherwise.

Leo can appreciate Virgo’s attention to detail when doing something Leo wants, while Virgo can appreciate Leo’s playfulness when Virgo needs to have some fun.

Virgo and Virgo

Virgo to Virgo can be a very good match, which is true of all the earth signs, more so than any other pairings of the same elements. If these two align in their tastes and concerns, they can enjoy a happy life of daily routines and shared goals.

If they disagree, they can usually find a workaround, which is a keynote of their energy, anyway. For this combination to succeed, both individuals just need to sort out any disagreements with some joint problem-solving.

Virgo and Libra

Libra is the cardinal air sign that likes to “harmonize” in love. This sign semi-sextiles Libra, meaning that these energies do not easily “see” each other because they sit “side-by-side”.

But if they do discover one another, they can enjoy a great “friendship” love that may not be high on intense romance energy, but deep and appreciative of the daily little loves that can build a great story over time. Libra wants a relationship in harmony and Virgo is happy to do the daily maintenance to make that happen. This can be a very comfortable love affair.

Virgo and Scorpio

Scorpio is the fixed water sign that prefers intensity in relationships. This sign sextiles Virgo, meaning that these energies complement one another. Remember that, for Scorpio, love is a power dynamic.

In this case, Virgo will be comfortable serving Scorpio, especially if the Scorpio individual is clear about what they want and how they want it. This can be very enjoyable both in bed and out in the world.

Virgo and Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign that prefers to “explore” in relationships. This sign squares (conflicts with) Virgo. The challenge is essentially between seeing the “forest more so than the individual trees” and “seeing the individual trees, but not the forest”.

One lover (Sagittarius) needs to come up with vacation and travel ideas, and the other lover needs to be able to organize and plan (Virgo) when and how they will go on the adventure, of life, together.

Virgo and Capricorn

Capricorn is the cardinal fire sign that likes to “achieve” in love. This sign trines Virgo, which means they collaborate well together and form a strong positive feedback loop. Virgo is the ultimate support person (administrator) and Capricorn loves to lead and direct (the boss).

If Capricorn can rely on the Virgo individual to take care of the details of the relationship and Virgo can trust the Capricorn individual to make sure they have enough, and more, then this relationship can enjoy ever-increasing success.

Virgo and Aquarius

Aquarius is the fixed air sign that likes to “commune” in love. This sign inconjuncts Virgo, which means they constantly must adjust to one another. Virgo is the ultimate support person (administrator) and Aquarius loves to see the big picture.

If Aquarius can give the Virgo individual-specific expectations for the relationship and Virgo can allow the Aquarius individual to ignore the details for the larger vision, then this relationship can enjoy great results so long as the partners “stay in their lanes”.

Virgo and Pisces

Pisces is the mutable water sign that wants to “dream” in love. This sign opposes, or “seeks balance with”, Virgo. Individually, Pisces sees the forest and Virgo sees the trees; together they can appreciate the fact that trees make up the forest, and that the strength and beauty of the forest are in every tree.

To make this relationship work, Pisces will have to give Virgo control of the details of the relationship and Virgo will need to let Pisces dream up the experiences the Virgo will help make happen.
