Welcome to the Monthly Tarotscope, a combination of Astrology and Tarot/Oracle Cards. Each month I will draw a card for your sign of the Zodiac. That card represents the meditation for the month for that Sun Sign. The Sun Sign represents your Primary Drive in life, how you best manifest your Life Path, and how the light of the Sun energizes you each day. This month I have chosen to use the Rider TaroTarot of the Divine by Yoshi Yoshitani.
Tarotscope for Aries (Mar 21 to Apr 19)
Maverick Active Fire energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best independently; you must learn self-discipline to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Nine of Cups. The keyword for this card is recognition; additional keywords are: fulfillment, dreams realized, and pleasure.
Representative: Taj Al-Muluk and the Princess Dunya (Iran, Arabic Folk Tale)
Symbolism: The Nine of Cups represents a happy ending achieved in unexpected ways. Prince Taj al-Muluk fell in love with Princess Dunya, but she refused men. He used trickery, disguising himself as a woman in order to win her heart.
When this card appears in a reading, it is time for you to shine and enjoy joyous experiences. The card is a blessing, encouraging you to appreciate what you have achieved. The card represents emotional satisfaction and the happiness that ensues when you live your best life.
Tarotscope for Taurus (Apr 20 to May 20)
Persistent Stable Earth energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you feel secure; you must learn some degree of adaptability to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Six of Swords. The keyword for this card is journeys; additional keywords are: healing, moving forward, stability, and escape.
Representative: Danae and Perseus (Greece, Greek Mythology)
Symbolism: The Six of Swords represents leaving behind tumultuous waters for a future that is calm and promising. After being imprisoned by her own father, Danae and her young son Perseus escape. Perseus will eventually grow to defeat the gorgon Medusa.
When this card appears in a reading, it is time to change your thinking, moving from one shore of knowledge to another. The card also represents actual moving, from one land to another, one city to another, or one home to another. There is no need to look back; just focus on your next “landing spot” or the destination in front of you. Where do you need to “get away from” and where do you need to “get to”, keeping in mind that you will have a distance to travel.
Tarotscope for Gemini (May 21 to Jun 20)
Curious Adaptable Air energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best-doing tasks that stimulate your mind in a variety of ways; you must learn how to focus-on-demand to manifest your best results. Your card this month is Five of Swords. The keyword for this card is surrender; additional keywords are: betrayal, bullying, violence, and crime.
Representative: Osiris, Set, and Isis (Egypt, Egyptian Mythology)
Symbolism: The Five of Swords represents a fight won through deceit. Set overthrows his brother Osiris and is seen gloating over his brother’s wife, Isis. While Set represents a tyrant of a victor, Isis is a defeated combatant who will eventually bring about Set’s defeat.
With this card drawn, you must address a defeat or setback. As the old saying goes, “it is not how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get back up”, which should always be one more than the number of times you have failed, lost, or been deceived. Right now, the first step is facing the defeat, knowing that it happened and that you must keep moving forward, and overcome.
Tarotscope for Cancer (Jun 21 to Jul 22)
Nurturing Active Water fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you care-take yourself and others properly; you must learn “emotional balance” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is The Chariot. The keyword for this card is perseverance; additional keywords are: a journey, rushed decisions, vengeance, and victory.
Representative: The Three Princesses of Whiteland (Norway, Norwegian Fairy Tale)
Symbolism: The Chariot is about harnessing emotions and charging down a straight, clear path. Where the prince may have floundered before, he has learned from his mistakes and now blazes forward confidently.
The Chariot appears to encourage you to take direct action, apply your will, and focus on the tasks at hand that need completion. Now is the time to act, and let nothing or no one stand in your way. Devote yourself to your goal, make it the air you breathe and the water you drink this month. Get … It … Done!
Tarotscope for Leo (Jul 23 to Aug 22)
Strong-burning Stable Fire fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are creative; you must learn structure to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Four of Wands. The keyword for this card is family; additional keywords are: reunion, success, happiness, and pride.
Representative: Mohini and Aravan (India, Sanskrit Epic Poem)
Symbolism: The Four of Wands represents rejoicing and festivities. A well-deserved celebration and a stable time to be thankful, cherishing loved ones. Mohini and Aravan embrace each other, enjoying the time before the next adventure begins.
When this card appears in a reading, you need to gather those you care about together and celebrate in some way. No need to wait for a special event; create one! Find a reason to celebrate and use that energy to do something as a group. If circumstances limit getting together with other people, celebrate with your partner or closest friend, or even your neighbor. Take some time this month to enjoy some revelry!
Tarotscope for Virgo (Aug 23 to Sep 22)
Practical Adaptable Earth fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you get all the details in order; you must learn to “see the forest for the trees” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Five of Cups. The keyword for this card is regret; additional keywords are: self-pity, guilt, stagnation, and depression.
Representative: La Llorona (Mexico, Mexican Folklore)
Symbolism: The Five of Cups is useless regret without learning. Jealous of her husband’s new wife, La Llorona drowns her own children and now her wailing ghost wanders the earth. She continues to wallow in grief, refusing to seek redemption or happiness.
This card is one of the most difficult to face. In this rendition, the figure does not seek redemption, but the two cups at the back of the card indicate that redemption is possible if she breaks from her grief and looks around. The loss is always overwhelming when it first happens, but over time there is a chance that some unseen good is present. Address any grief you have now, but try to allow that time will show you other opportunities if you can find the emotional energy to acknowledge them in the future.
Tarotscope for Libra (Sep 23 to Oct 22)
Analytical Active Air fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when acting logically; you must learn to mix in feelings to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Three of Swords. The keyword for this card is grief; additional keywords are: heartbreak, self-harm, sadness, and separation.
Representative: Crane Wife (Japan, Japanese Fairy Tale)
Symbolism: The Three of Swords represents betrayal. The Crane Wife asks her husband for privacy, but he spies on her, only to discover she was hurting herself to help him. His spying was treacherous, but so was her inability to trust him with her secret.
This card is difficult to face. There is a sorrow, grief, or sadness you need to address. You may be the cause of the situation or the victim of someone else’s harmful actions. Either way, you must work through the heartbreak and emotional wound with the help of the truth, honesty, communication, and patience. Reach out to a person or professional you can trust or who has experience helping people process grief, loss, or trauma. This card is a three because we must move through its energy to higher and more complete numbers.
Tarotscope for Scorpio (Oct 23 to Nov 21)
Intense Persistent Water energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when bringing or experiencing transformation; you must learn “playfulness or lightness of heart” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Six of Cups. The keyword for this card is sharing; additional keywords are: nostalgia, old friends, simple joys, and childhood.
Representative: The Snow Queen (Denmark, Danish Fairy Tale)
Symbolism: The Six of Cups evokes nostalgia for sweeter times. Kai and Gerda are best friends as children, but when Kai is struck with depression, he leaves with the Snow Queen. Through many adventures, Gerda saves him, but by then, innocence is gone.
Take time to reconnect with the pleasant memories of your childhood. Recall the best days, when you shared time with a friend or your family. Go back in time in your mind and enjoy your favorite memories. Perhaps you can reach out to a lost friend and reconnect. Or, maybe you are fortunate enough to have a friendship still going that will allow you and your friend to get together and retell your best memories of each other. Bring that positive energy forward this month.
Tarotscope for Sagittarius (Nov 22 to Dec 21)
Expansive Adaptable Fire fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best by exploring openly and trying new experiences; you must learn to map and record your knowledge to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Six of Coins. The keyword for this card is generosity; additional keywords are: charity, kindness, value, and reward.
Representative: The Woman Who Was Kind to Insects (Alaska, Inuit Fable)
Symbolism: The Six of Coins represents kindness and generosity to those less fortunate. The old woman from this Inuit tale understands the need to put positivity into the world in order to receive it back – the pay-it-forward methodology of karma.
When this card appears in a reading, consider what you have that you can share, and make the effort to do so. Operate with a “theory of abundance”, believing that the more you share, the more you will receive in return. Building a network through sharing is a much stronger way to build security than hoarding.
Tarotscope for Capricorn (Dec 22 to Jan 19)
Ambitious Active Earth fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are setting and achieving goals; you must learn compassion to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Knight of Coins. The keyword for this card is ambition; additional keywords are: hard work, persistence, and being efficient.
Representative: Heitsi-Eibib (South Africa, Khoikoi Deity)
Symbolism: The Knight of Coins is a diligent warrior who is willing to put in the work to set the world right. Heitsi-Eibib can be as stubborn as an ox, getting into trouble for his efforts. He is strong, loyal, and determined in all things he sets his mind to.
When this card appears in a reading, you need to focus on your goals and how you will achieve them. You must take the proper steps and initiate the correct sequence to reach success. Your efforts will be measured through practical tests, compensation, promotion, or rejection. If you do not put forth your best effort, others will surpass you and gain what you seek. Hard work, persistence, showing up, and executing actions efficiently will be necessary to reach your goals.
Tarotscope for Aquarius (Jan 20 to Feb 18)
Unconventional Stable Air fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are authentic and unrepentant; you must learn quiet fortitude to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Queen of Wands. The keyword for this card is optimism; additional keywords are: independence, confidence, passion, and verve.
Representative: Pele (Hawaii, Hawaiian Deity)
Symbolism: The Queen of Wands represents a fiery force. The volcano goddess Pele’s rages can be destructive, but her blessings are just as powerful. She is the creativity of dance, the nourishment of rich soil, and the chaotic force of an explosion.
Receiving this card indicates a time to shine, and bolster your self-esteem. The Queen of Wands is a positive example of strong leadership and confidence in your abilities. Be willing to take center stage and perform. Show others what you can do and how well you can do it. Focus on your strengths and spend time developing them to new levels of success. Identify your power, embrace it, and share it with the world around you. This card encourages you to “get out there and strut our stuff”!!
Tarotscope for Pisces (Feb 19 to Mar 20)
Imaginative Adaptable Water fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best connecting with others emotionally; you must learn toughness to manifest your best results. Your card this month is The Emperor. The keyword for this card is leadership; additional keywords are: stability, bravery, bold action, and structure.
Representative: King Arthur (Britain, Celtic Legend)
Symbolism: The Emperor is the ideal father figure. A warrior and conqueror, King Arthur rules over his kingdom and his sometimes-unruly knights with a just and firm hand. He unifies the fractious, defends the weak, and lends his knowledge and understanding to all his subjects.
When this card appears in a reading, you need to consider your relationship with your father, authority figures, and your nation. Has your experience been mostly positive or mostly negative? And what about your own use of authority? How do you use the power you have? This card represents the masculine/yang energy in life, which forges ahead, asserts, and transforms through action and power. This card appears to make you aware of your power and the power you face in life from outside yourself.
