Welcome to the Monthly Tarotscope, a combination of Astrology and Tarot/Oracle Cards. Each month I will draw a card for your sign of the Zodiac. That card represents the meditation for the month for that Sun Sign. The Sun Sign represents your Primary Drive in life, how you best manifest your Life Path, and how the light of the Sun energizes you each day. This month I have chosen to use the Waking the Wild Spirit by Poppy Palin.
Tarotscope for Aries (Mar 21 to Apr 19)
Maverick Active Fire energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best independently; you must learn self-discipline to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the King of Fire, the Chieftain. The keywords for this card are completion and release and sharing.
From the companion book: Behold, my land, my people, all we have brought to bear! I have seen this settlement go from bare sticks and stones to a fully functioning network, a thriving community based on trust. We poured our energy into this land and shared a mutual vision, a will to live in a place we could call home, a safe space on the land that did not abuse any natural law but blended in with nature’s way. (243)
When this card appears in a reading, it is time to accept your role as a leader, even if it is just within your family or among your friends. The Chieftain understands that others look to him or her for guidance. Distinctively, among the Kings, the King of Fire leads by example. They will not ask those who follow them to do anything they would not be willing to do. Demonstrating leadership through action is what you need to accomplish this month.
Tarotscope for Taurus (Apr 20 to May 20)
Persistent Stable Earth energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you feel secure; you must learn some degree of adaptability to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Knight of Water, the Seeker. The keywords for this card are focus and concentration, fixation on an issue.
From the companion book: Do you know the whereabouts of the Salmon of Knowledge, the Golden Apple of Wisdom, the Holy Grail itself? I am looking, trying to focus on that which tugs at my heartstrings and inspires my spirit, trying to attain understanding through the profound feelings that these mythical things quicken in me. I seek, as we all ultimately do, true love. (267)
When this card appears in a reading, you should work to learn something new and get outside your routine, which is not an easy thing for a Taurus to do. All the knights perform and pursue quests, so when this card appears you need to embrace a quest this month. Since the element is water, the quest should evolve your emotions, so, a challenge in a relationship or in pursuit of something you love. You need an emotional adventure this month.
Tarotscope for Gemini (May 21 to Jun 20)
Curious Adaptable Air energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best-doing tasks that stimulate your mind in a variety of ways; you must learn how to focus on demand to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Five of Earth, the Cauldron. The keywords for this card are adjustment, challenge, change, and adaptation.
From the companion book: I am the Wisewoman, the one who dwells deep in the wood, private but productive, walking the Way of the Greening. I stir new ideas into the pot. Outside my door, the garden flourishes and is admired, but what can be done to improve it? What changes for the better may I stir into the blend I have imagined and brought about in the world? A pinch of common sense, a dash of creativity, and a splash of knowledge, and we can give the whole project a little pruning. (199)
With this card drawn, you must see how to “mix various life ingredients” and “cook them at the right temperature for the correct amount of time” to get the perfect result. This card directs you to be patient and thorough with any actions you take this month. Since your card’s element is earth, you should look to your finances or work this month, and be sure you are managing your material world properly, just like the wise woman watching her stew or brew cook in the cauldron.
Tarotscope for Cancer (Jun 21 to Jul 22)
Nurturing Active Water fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you care-take yourself and others properly; you must learn “emotional balance” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the 10th card of the Majors, the Dance of Life/Web of Fate. The keywords for this card are gathering sharing and destiny.
From the companion book: “To mend, to tend, to bend, to love, as it is below and so above.” Round and round we go, weaving the web, working the pulsing red thread of life. We sing and we dance as part of the motion, filled with emotion because we are together. Our oneness is uplifting; it adds purpose to our activities; to be isolated would make us grieve, for the natural way is one of unity. (99)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to look comprehensively at your life and all the threads that weave it together: family, friends, romantic relationships, work, and community. How does it all fit together for you? When you pull on one thread or feel tension from another thread, how does the entire web of your fate react? Take this month to evaluate your life, so you can see which areas need attention and give them your energy to improve them.
Tarotscope for Leo (Jul 23 to Aug 22)
Strong-burning Stable Fire fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are creative; you must learn structure to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Nine of Air, Soaring. The keywords for this card are processing, flowing, integrating, and achieving.
From the companion book: I am up here where I belong, riding the warm air currents and catching the wind under my white wings. Ah, the freedom and peace. Peace except for the raucous cries of my brothers, but then, how can I complain when I, too, use the same language? I go with the flow, changing my direction as the elements dictate. (232)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to determine which way the “wind is blowing” in your life and try your best to ride the currents. Sometimes life takes us in unexpected directions when the winds shift. We can try to fly against the currents, but such effort often tires us. You really do need to “let go and let flow” this month. Make it a “yes” month and see where the winds take you.
Tarotscope for Virgo (Aug 23 to Sep 22)
Practical Adaptable Earth fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you get all the details in order; you must learn to “see the forest for the trees” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Three of Water, Wishing Well. The keywords for this card are planning, looking at details, and preparing.
From the companion book: I came to this sacred place today to make my offering and say my prayer of hope. I have felt much love that I would like to bring to bear in the world, felt the need for a resurgence, a new Greening for the Earth and all her children. So, I make my wish and tie my rag to the Tree of Life in the hope that as it decays so will my dream for future life be released and made a manifest reality. (275)
When this card appears in a reading, it is time to share positive energy with others and wish for their success. Look around you this month and see who is in need. If you can help them in practical ways, do so. But if all you can do is sympathize or empathize, then do so. Wishing others well can have surprisingly positive benefits for you, and for them. Positivity is your task this month, generate it from within and share it with as many people as you can.
Tarotscope for Libra (Sep 23 to Oct 22)
Analytical Active Air fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when acting logically; you must learn to mix in feelings to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Four of Fire, the Smith. The keywords for this card are manifesting, making real, and creating.
From the companion book: Without the light within, we as beings are extinguished, made useless, and essentially soulless. Fire is our Spirit. Without this fire here before me, I am without a tool for transformation; I cannot work wonders in the world. See me working here; see the things I create from the molten metal. Ritual objects, fine swords to protect my tribe, by sweat and toil, and by the authority of fire we create magical things. (249)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to apply your creative energy in some practical way to produce a result others can use to help them succeed. At the most basic level, this card encourages you to make something this month. Use your creative energy to repair something that is broken; turn raw materials into a tool or piece of art. Something that does not exist at the beginning of this month should exist, by your hands, at the end of this month.
Tarotscope for Scorpio (Oct 23 to Nov 21)
Intense Persistent Water energy fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when bringing or experiencing transformation; you must learn “playfulness or lightness of heart” to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the 14th card of the Majors, Inner Child/Spirit of Purity. The keywords for this card are innocence, wonder, and hope.
From the companion book: Wouldn’t you like to live in harmony: free, happy, abundant, and healthily inquisitive? Wouldn’t you love to release all that fear, anxiety, nervousness, and trepidation? To live without dread, in an exciting present? Then come and find me! We have been playing hide and seek for so many years! Chase me, let’s play together again! (129)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to play, pure and simple. Reconnect with a strong childhood memory and explore it again as an adult. Get a game from your childhood and play it with a child in your life, or another adult who grew up playing the same game. Indulge some simple playfulness throughout this month; it will do you some good. Take a break from your adult responsibilities and use the playtime to recharge your energy. Do something for the pure joy of creativity and fun, without worrying about the judgment of others, compensation, or reaching a goal.
Tarotscope for Sagittarius (Nov 22 to Dec 21)
Expansive Adaptable Fire fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best by exploring openly and trying new experiences; you must learn to map and record your knowledge to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the 1st card of the Majors, the Cunning Man. The keywords for this card are communication, problem-solving, and invention.
From the companion book: Hear the words of power! You think that I am leaping here for my own foolish indulgence, another flamboyant preacher man performing for profit? Be gone with you if you entertain such notions! Here see the authentic Spirit of the Wise Ways, once known and forgotten by you … remembered by me. (31)
When this card appears in a reading, consider going on an adventure, which is a very Sagittarius action. The energy of this card wants you to explore a new experience, meet a new person (or people), and to go somewhere you have never been. The Cunning Man is an adventurer and explorer, never satisfied with routine. There is a world of possibility around you, so break your patterns this month and see what you learn about yourself. The Magical Spirit is fearless in the face of the unknown because he or she knows there is an opportunity and learning in what is new.
Tarotscope for Capricorn (Dec 22 to Jan 19)
Ambitious Active Earth fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are setting and achieving goals; you must learn compassion to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the Knight of Air, the Storyteller. The keywords for this card are focus and concentration, fixation on an issue.
From the companion book: Gather round and I will tell you a tale, spin you a yarn, and weave you up tight in my spellbinding sagas. Once upon a time, there was a charismatic man who found he could hold people’s attention by telling stories about days gone by, or lands that never were. (213)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to consider your life story up to this point and capture it by writing it down or recording something about it. In truth, we are all narratives, a collection of stories based on our actions in the world and interactions with other people. This month you should reflect on your story and share it with people who care about you and want to know more about you. Keep in mind that the Storyteller knows how to “spin a yarn”, so you have to do more than just relaying the facts; you also need to “convey the meaning”. Take this month to think about and share what your life means.
Tarotscope for Aquarius (Jan 20 to Feb 18)
Unconventional Stable Air fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best when you are authentic and unrepentant; you must learn quiet fortitude to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the 19th card of the Majors, Sky Dancer/Morning Star. The keywords for this card are passion, truth, and revelation.
From the companion book: Here comes the sun! The sunshine of your smile reflects all the luscious sweetness of summer. You are perfect and golden, a godlike creature. If we choose to see the sacredness of all things, even the most mundane aspects of our lives can become magical. Within ourselves, the sacred can be found; within us, there are many suns. We are wholly divine. (165)
Receiving this card indicates the need to find joy in your life and express that joy in some way, through action, creativity, or sharing with others. The light of the Sky Dancer is here to energize you. You should make a long “to do” list at the start of this month, and be ambitious. This card wants you to flourish and grow, which you do by setting goals and achieving them. If there is something you have been wanting to do for some time, this is the month to make it happen.
Tarotscope for Pisces (Feb 19 to Mar 20)
Imaginative Adaptable Water fuels your Primary Drive. Your Life Path energy operates best by connecting with others emotionally; you must learn toughness to manifest your best results. Your card this month is the 9th card of the Majors, the Healer/Wise Counselor. The keywords for this card are sensitivity, awareness, and compassion.
From the companion book: I want to know. Don’t you? Wouldn’t you like to know all there is to be known, to have knowledge of your chosen area of expertise beyond any other that has gone before? Wouldn’t you love to understand more than what everyone else has accepted as all there is? I have that passion – that overwhelming, awe-inspiriting passion to know, which overshadows all else. (91)
When this card appears in a reading, you need to accept your role as a healer and take the time to focus on your studies and the improvement of your skills. This card wants you to use this month to improve yourself, learn more and elevate your knowledge so you can be more productive and helpful. To do this work well, you might find it helpful to detach from relationships temporarily while you work to better yourself. To become a Wise Counselor, you need time to digest and reflect on your knowledge and experience from time to time. This month is the time to refine your expertise, so you can be better and do more in the next month.
