The Best Cartoon Character for Your Zodiac Sign

The Best Cartoon Character for Your Zodiac Sign

This article will match the lead from popular animated films with the archetype of each Sun sign.  Cartoons do a wonderful job presenting characters that idealize certain ways through the world that match nicely with the Zodiac signs. If these prove to be accurate, then you should find your cartoon character and his or her movie fun to watch.

Source Material – Animated Films

Animated films are not new to the movie industry.  Animated films have been around since the turn of the 19th to the 20th century (1880 to 1908), but the first full-length feature fill is considered Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from Walt Disney Studios in 1924.  From 1928 to 1960 animated films grew until animation developed into a staple on television from 1960 to 1980.

In 1995 Toy Story broke new ground as the first full-length feature film using computer-generated animation from Pixar Studios.  Since then cartoons of all kinds, traditional to computer-generated have exploded in numbers, producing some of the best characters and stories in the modern era.  It was not hard to find some great examples to match each Sun sign.

Aries – Chicken Little (Chicken Little)

Chicken Little poster

Chicken Little is really the quintessential Aries character; he even has the perfect Aries catchphrase, “Today is a new day!”.  Nothing gets him down; he just keeps moving forward and plays the underdog who becomes the hero role perfectly.  The story plays on the “sky is falling” theme by having a panel from a spaceship hit him on the head early in the movie, which no one believes until events bring the alien storyline into the light.

Taurus – Totoro (My Neighbor Totoro)

My Neighbor Totoro poster

Taurus is a sign concerned with tradition and values and is a natural protector of the land.  Totoro is a tree spirit that befriends a young girl and her older sister.  He is the embodiment of earth energy, demonstrated best in a scene where he helps the two girls magically grow trees from acorns in the course of just one night.  As the protector of the woods and guardian of the children, he is an ideal Taurus character.

Gemini – Kubo (Kubo and the Two Strings)

Kubo is a storyteller and thus, the perfect character to represent Gemini.  He channels his magic through his guitar, using it to bring inanimate objects to life and to direct energy at enemies who threaten him and those he cares about.  He is clever, intelligent, and quick of mind; all the qualities of Gemini.

Cancer – Moana (Moana)

Moana poster

Cancer energy protects and Moana takes action to save her family, village, and island when it becomes clear that the natural balance in the life of the ocean has been upset.  The strong relationship between her and her grandmother emphasizes the caring nature of feminine energy, but her adventurous spirit shows the cardinal willingness to take action when trouble threatens her family and those she feels she must protect.

Leo – Simba (The Lion King)

The Lion King poster

Simba is a bit of an obvious choice, but it is the one that best fits Leo.  Like much of the Leo path to develop into a great leader, there is a journey through insecurity, and a desire to avoid responsibility and “play”.  However, when the moment arrives to perform, Simba, the Leo archetype, steps up and shows his power and leadership.

Virgo – Rodney Copperbottom (Robots)

Virgo energy likes to fix things and solve problems, which is what Rodney Copperbottom does best in this robot animated world.  Moving to the big city to make his dreams come true, he encounters robots being forced to buy upgrades or be scrapped.  He jumps in, like a true Virgo, and helps repair them until he gets the attention of the evil corporate empire, which he fights with his wits and ingenuity, prevailing so everyone can get what they need to have a healthy robot life.

Libra – Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

Beauty and the Beast poster

Belle is certainly the beauty whose gracious nature brings harmony to the tortured Beast.  Libra is more than capable in stressful situations because the sign can see from the other side and understand the larger picture.  With grace, reason, and determination Belle exemplifies the Libra archetype that can help bring balance to people and situations that are out of balance.  She knows how to assess people and problems and make quick decisions that lead to the right outcome.

Scorpio – Sally (A Nightmare Before Christmas)

A Nightmare Before Christmas poster

Scorpio is determined and operates out in the open or behind-the-scenes with intense persistence.  Sally is resourceful and wise, more than a capable match for Jack, the Pumpkin King, who, in a fit of depression, decides to take over Christmas.  Sally easily sees the many problems this will cause and works tirelessly behind the scenes to help Jack and save Santa Claus from Oogie Boogie, the main villain of the story. She is often underestimated, just the way a Scorpio would prefer it.

Sagittarius – Groo (Despicable Me)

Despicable Me poster

Groo is a master villain who becomes the good guy thanks to his adoption of three orphan girls as part of a master plan that goes awry.  Like any good Sagittarian leader, he and his minions, actual minions.  He operates with a world-beating, larger than life philosophy.  When he eventually switches sides to defeat evil, he brings his worldly-wise knowledge of villainy to bear on his success as a new and unlikely hero.

Capricorn – Judy Hopps (Zootopia)

Zootopia poster

Capricorn achieves goals and strives to be the best.  That sentence pretty much sums up Judy Hopps journey through the movie Zootopia.  She dreams big, but also puts in the hard work, constantly overcoming situations that would send other signs of the Zodiac in another life direction.  Like the ideal Capricorn she is, she works her way up, paying her dues, and working within the system to change the system.

Aquarius – Remy (Ratatouille)

Ratatouille poster

Aquarius is the sign of revolution and unconventional energy.  Remy is certainly the “odd rat out” thanks to his love of exquisite French cuisine and his desire to be a chef, while his rat family tries to adhere to the “old ways” (hiding and eating garbage).  Aquarius energy strives to revolutionize the world in some way.  Remy does the revolutionary work by the end of the movie by teaming with a stodgy French food critic to open a new, wildly famous restaurant.

Pisces – Dory (Finding Nemo)

Finding Nemo poster

Pisces represent flowing water energy and no character is more “in the flow” than Dory from Finding Nemo.  Like Chicken Little, she has the ideal catchphrase for the sign of Pisces, “just keep swimming”.  Even her short-term memory loss is a metaphor for Pisces; “the moment is now” and often the previous moment is gone as quickly as the new moment arrives.  She gets in and out of trouble with naïve self-confidence and aplomb.
