Psychometry: Getting Messages from Objects

We are all psychic but to varying degrees. Even psychic skills face logical limitations; some people are just more sensitive, sensitive in different ways, and more talented than others.  Everyone can run, but some people run faster, longer, and with more grace than others.  With training, you can improve and maximize the psychic skills you have, just like improving your speed, endurance, and grace as a runner.

Sometimes psychic gifts remain dormant until a specific trigger moment, like a near-death experience, or they are found through concentrated efforts at meditation and mindfulness work.  There is also a wide range of talents, from simple intuition to channeling other entities to animal communication and on and on.

This article will discuss the psychic skill of psychometry, which is the ability to get messages and psychic information from objects.

Psychometry, What is It?

Objects, especially ones that have been around for a long time or in heavy use, absorb and hold energy. A person who can do psychometric readings can glean information off objects related to the owner or owners.  This information can range from residual emotions to clear pictures depending on the connection of the object with the person and the talent of the practitioner.

Most commonly, jewelry is a favorite category for psychometric readings, but a person’s vehicle, their house, a chair they sit in, and so on will all make useful objects.  However, objects that are the sole possession and in use by the owner work better than ones that can absorb energy from others, like a house or a car.

Testing for Psychometry Ability

Psychometry is one of the more easily testable forms of psychic skill.  You can actually place an object (number 1) within another object (number 2) and test to see if people can identify what is inside object number 2.  It is a test you can do with a friend.

Have your friend take 10 randomly selected objects and place them in brown paper bags or small wooden boxes and set them on a table in a row.  Do not allow the person to be tested to be able to pick up the bags or boxes, and if you use bags to make sure the person touching them cannot feel the object in the bag.  They only need to make contact with the bag.

Also, the test does not have to be about what the object is; that is one way to run the test, but not all people who are psychometrically skilled will get clarity about the object.  They may, in fact, get impressions about the owner or a feeling related to the owner and object.

If possible, select objects that have had one owner, antique objects may have more than one significant psychic echo and you may think your friend got something wrong when they could be picking up on an owner you have never met.

Why Get a Psychometric Reading?

If you buy any previously owned object, whether at an estate sale, yard sale, or the flea market and you do not plan to learn anything about the object, energetically speaking, then it is best to cleanse the object with salt (if appropriate, especially good for jewelry) or sage or with the help of an energy worker who specializes in clearing pre-existing psychic residue.

Some objects you may not want to cleanse because the psychic energy present in them is quite powerful and beneficial, which is why you would want to consider a psychometric reading.  Say you are looking for an engagement ring and you want to get an heirloom item from your family or an antique.

If the engagement ring you find was worn by a happily married person, that energy might be something you want to keep on the ring and share with your fiancé.  If the ring was worn by someone who had an unhealthy marriage, then you would certainly want it cleansed before giving it to your lover.

Perhaps you did not have the chance to get to know one of your grandparents and the stories you have heard feel limited or happen to be few and far between.  But you do have the watch your grandfather wore every day of his life.  If so, then you might want to ask someone with psychometric talent to see what they can tell you about your grandfather through his watch.

Even more useful could be the hiring of a psychometric practitioner to go through an older home, especially if the purchase records show multiple owners over the life of the home.  Even if everyone safely bought and sold the house and no deaths occurred during ownership, you might want to see if the psychic echo is one of a happy couple or family or one of unhappiness.

Walking barefoot over the floors or running hands along the walls and counters can give a talented psychometric reader a tremendous amount of information that they can share with you.

Developing Psychometric Skill

If you discover that you have the talent of psychometry, then the more you practice with it the better you can read objects over time.  If you intuitively feel that objects “speak to you”, then work to determine the style and degree of your talent.

Do you see clear images, or do you get impressions and feelings?  Can you sense if an object has positive vibrations or if it damaged and drawing energy from people who come into contact with the object?  Is it a talent you want to enjoy just for yourself or do you want to develop it professionally?

Like any skill or talent, it is up to you to decide how and if you want to use it.
