Spirituality Tools: Stones and Sound

Spirituality is the quality of being concerned with the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things. In the quest for spiritual understanding in your life, there are many tools at your disposal to help you explore your spiritual energy, answer spiritual questions, and enhance your spiritual awareness.

This article will look at the types of tools and their uses in and for spiritual practice.  The tools to consider for this article – stones and sound – represent two of the more common tools one can find and use for spiritual work.

Spiritual Tools, Why Use Them?

Spiritual work does not require the use of tools, but they can prove extremely helpful if you prefer to have objects to work with when seeking spiritual guidance, on your own or from someone else.  I think it is helpful to make a distinction between a spiritual talent, like clairaudience, and a spiritual tool, like tuning forks.

Spiritual tools help you or a practitioner focus energy for spiritual work or help in the search for spiritual answers. A tool can help a person get to a spiritual place or spiritual answer, or it can take a spiritual talent and give it direction during a reading or question/answer process.

Stones, Rocks, and Crystals

One of the best known and most widely used spiritual tools are stones, rocks, and crystals.  Energetically stones, rocks, and crystals are available for every possible situation and need.  Tara Mideaker nicely sums up the distinction among all three,

“A Stone is a solid, non-metallic mineral matter.  A Rock is a natural material, hard or soft, consisting of one or more minerals.  Stones form together to make a Rock.  One of the main differences is that Stones are always hard while a Rock can be hard or soft.  Both are formed from minerals. Crystals are a solid material comprised of ions, atoms, and molecules that are arranged in a repeating pattern to become solid.”

Numerous books exist about the healing and spiritual property of stones, rocks, and crystals.  Some of the best include:

  • The Crystal Bible (3 Volumes)
  • The Ultimate Guide to Crystals & Stones: A Practical Path to Personal Power, Self-Development, and Healing
  • Crystals for Beginners: The Guide to Get Started with the Healing Power of Crystals

Using Stones, Rocks, and Crystals as Spiritual Tools

Using stones, rocks, and crystals as spiritual tools means wearing them, placing them, and applying them.  First and foremost, you want to research the stones, rocks, and crystals to determine their energetic vibration and spiritual use.  No need to get a stone to increase prosperity when you are trying to find one that will help you sleep better at night.

Wearing Them

The most common way to wear stones, rocks, and crystals is on a necklace or bracelet.  The stones do not have to touch your skin, they just need to be inside your aura field, which always extends far enough beyond your body for stones, rocks, or crystals on your person to be effective.  Skin-to-stone contact can be important for certain issues and with certain stones, so consulting the proper text or expert is necessary.

Placing Them

Stones, rocks, and crystals can be used to form energy grids in your rooms, your vehicle, or around your property.  You can use them with plants or create a sacred location on your land.  Placement should follow geometric and directional patterns (NSEW).

Applying Them

The most common way to apply a stone is as a pendulum plumb.  Certain stones, rocks, or crystals will resonate with your energy field and will make excellent pendulums that you can use to answer questions in your life.  You can also apply them to areas of your body to improve energy, reduce pain, or focus your thoughts.

Sound

Sound for spiritual work is a way to use your hearing and the vibrations of sound waves to help you emotionally and physically.  Tuning forks, singing bowls, and crystal bowls all provide sound frequencies that can be used in spiritual work.

Using Sound as a Spiritual Tool

Any consistent sound frequency (not music) used in a repeated or consistent stretch of meditation time can provide access to higher consciousness and spiritual visions. Mainly you want to find a quiet space where you can concentrate on the sound and feel the sound vibrations as you work on an important question or attempt healing work.

Tuning Forks

You can purchase a set with determined frequencies that will help with healing emotional troubles or increasing your levels of psychic awareness.  You can find many samples on Amazon.

Singing Bowls

The most famous singing bowls are Tibetan and made of composite alloys, based on mostly copper.  You take a pestle and run it around the rim of the bowl to create the sound.  Bowls are made for different chakras of the human body, so you can activate and heal those areas when using the bowl.

Crystal Bowls

If you want another sound solution, crystal bowls, especially quartz, can provide the same kind of sonorous sound by running a pestle around the rim of the bowl.  These are far more expensive than the metal bowls.

Conclusion

Your level of spiritual or psychic talent does not have to be high or even present to use these tools and still be able to get a spiritual result.  Whether you feel guided to use stones, rocks, crystals, tuning forks, or singing bowls, you can use these tools in spiritual practice for yourself.
