There are numerous types of relationships to explore when considering compatibility between two signs. We grow up in a parent/child dynamic. Outside our family, we form friendships with other children and eventually other adults. We look for and find love. And, we go to work and have careers, interacting with employers and co-workers.
Each sign-to-sign interaction guides our behavior in every relationship. Read through this section to find out how each of the above dynamics works astrologically so you can experience the optimal way to communicate and get along with your sign and all the other signs.
The Gemini-and-Cancer interaction is interesting and helpful. As the “I communicate” sign of the Zodiac, Gemini is open-minded, curious, and intelligent. Cancer is the “I nurture” sign of the Zodiac and is caring, sympathetic, and compassionate. A long-term relationship (outside parent/child) is a very strong possibility with these two signs, mainly because of the nature of Cancer. Gemini easily adapts to the nature of any sign it pairs with, becoming aligned with the other sign’s primary behavior in relationships.
Gemini Parent/Cancer Child
The Gemini parent and Cancer child can prove to be a mildly challenging dynamic. The Gemini parent is all about understanding and sharing knowledge with their children. The Cancer child will crave emotional support from the Gemini parent to help them learn how to grow into their nurturing and caring energy. While the Gemini, as an air sign, may not be able to feel the way the Cancer child feels, they will certainly try to understand and provide their Cancer child with knowledge and supportive people who can help the Cancer child learn the power of their emotionally deep needs and desire to care for others.
Cancer Parent/Gemini Child
The Cancer parent and Gemini child may prove more challenging. Cancer rules the heart and Gemini rules the head. There will likely be many times when the Cancer parent wants to caretake and nurture the Gemini child, wanting the emotional bond to deepen and strengthen over time, but the Gemini child mainly wants the parent to help them learn and improve their way of understanding the world. Where it gets problematic is if the Cancer parent and Gemini child are not equal in intelligence. If the Cancer parent fails to understand, knowledge-wise, something that is very clear for the Gemini child, or the Gemini child is unable to understand the Cancer parents need for emotional connection, then two can experience frustration with each other.
Gemini Friend/Cancer Friend
Gemini and Cancer friends can really benefit from knowing each other. Since these signs sit “side-by-side” in the Zodiac sequence, they can learn from each other even though they have different designs when it comes to navigating life. The Gemini friend can help the Cancer when the Cancer really needs to look at the situation or relationship logically and with a detached perspective. And Cancer can help the Gemini when he or she needs to understand where someone is coming from emotionally, or a situation needs more empathy and compassion, which are not always the strong suits of the air signs.
Gemini Lover/Cancer Lover
This romance, love, sex combination is very fun in the short term and more frustrating in the long term. Cancer, by design, is very committed and emotionally intense. Gemini, by design, is usually playful and free-flowing. In a moment of short-term intersection, there can be a lot of romance and sexual exploration. If a long-term relationship does develop, it will be Cancer that proves to be the anchor or the glue holding the relationship together and helping it persist, which they will be more than capable of doing.
Gemini Employer/Cancer Employee
The Gemini employer and the Cancer employee can be a good combination for a business. Gemini wants his business and employees to learn and succeed by constantly improving their skills and learning how to be good at what they do. Cancer, as an employee, can be a tremendous asset for a Gemini boss because they see every interaction as an opportunity to build and support the important relationship traits that can make a workforce into a family. The Cancer employee can help the Gemini boss learn how to connect with the other employees where those employees need to “feel” supported by their employer.
Cancer Employer/Gemini Employee
If the employer is Cancer and the employee is Gemini, this combination is just as good as the reverse. Cancer wants to know what is going on and how everyone is feeling. The Gemini employee wants to be informed and knowledgeable about every aspect of the business, including how everyone feels about everyone else. Keep in mind that the Gemini employee is doing so to have as much information as possible, which can be used to clue the Cancer employer in on which employees need some compassion and caretaking from their boss, which can keep the family-like environment the Cancer employer wants to cultivate thriving.
Gemini Co-worker/Cancer Co-worker
This combination may prove the most challenging but is still not what would be considered difficult. These two signs just operate on a different frequency. If anything, the Cancer individual will try to assume a “leader-like” role concerning the emotional needs of anyone working with him or her, which is the nature of a cardinal sign. The Gemini can pretty much work with anyone; they just will not be the co-worker who has the same emotional concerns about work that the Cancer has.
