How to Choose the Right Tarot Reader

How to Choose the Right Tarot Reader for You?

Tarot readers, Psychic mediums, people who have chosen to pursue a career in the otherworldly arts have a duty to back up their ability to charge the amount that they do.

Unfortunately, there are still some eye-roll worthy con artists around. ‘Readers’ who base their trade off telling people what they want to hear or making broad and general statements to clients that are desperate for assurance.

With people’s interest in spiritualism and the use of psychic/tarot readers on the rise, it’s a good idea to investigate a reader before deciding to invest in them.

Any good reader will respect that.

Here are some of the key things to look for when seeking out a spiritual advisor.

Track record

Any good reader will have some kind of track record. They will have reviews and testimonials, a built-up social media page, perhaps a free service to offer to people.

A lot of valued readers are on YouTube giving away readings for each zodiac sign. Others who don’t necessarily like using YouTube as a platform might give away free daily readings on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or something like that.

Tarot/spiritual services are not easy trades to pursue if you genuinely want to help people. You will trigger people, you will run a lot of risks both financially and socially. You will need to constantly be living a lifestyle which allows you to tap into your spiritual gifts, you need to be balanced. You need to know how to market yourself and do the administration side of things without being a ‘sell-out’. You need to change your mindset around money to be able to accept money in accordance with the time and energy you give to people.

There is a lot of work that is put into it, and any good reader will document this in some kind of way without seeming like it’s all just ‘effortless’. If a reader is legit, they will want you to see the work they put in to building this.

They want you to know that they care about you, not just your money. Money enables them to do the work that they do- for you.

Prices

Following on from my last point- you get what you pay for. Self-growth and evolution improve the ability of the reader. Lifestyle is important for a reader.

Just as it is important for an athlete to train, a teacher to learn, a doctor to go through 8 years of education, a reader has to remain balanced to block out ego as much as possible.

If you live a life which means you have very little patience or energy left to give to other people, you will find it difficult to remain detached and non-judgemental when reading for a person. As a result, you lose the ability to read tarot. Your mind has less time to wander or just shut up and listen to spirit.

You cannot pour from an empty cup. You cannot give if you’re not fulfilled.

As a reader, I meditate, I perform Reiki on myself regularly, I read as often as I can to try and develop my mindset, and I dedicate myself to becoming my best/ most enlightened self.

I do all this so that I can give back to people. It’s just what I was meant to do.

In the past, that has meant that I’ve had to leave jobs, or take breaks from reading/ decline some customers because I just haven’t been in the right headspace.

If you are investing in a reading that is relatively pricey, and the reader has a good track record- you are investing in someone who has overcome many hurdles and invested a lot in their health to be able to give you a high-quality reading to the best of their ability.

It means that they can get the right decks, dedicate more time to their practice, they’re in a position where for an hour, their attention is on you and how to get you on the path to living your best life.

Readers who are starting out doing tarot as a job might sell themselves short at first to be able to build that track record up, but once they get going, the price will pick up.

Intuition

If you’re going to a reader, you’re likely already quite intuitive and open to the possibility that there is more to this world than what meets the eye. Go with your gut feeling about things.

Some readers look dodgy to you, some feel dodgy to you, some of them you just might not like their aesthetic.

It doesn’t mean they’re not good people, it just might mean that you likely won’t work well together. That’s okay. Just don’t make an investment if you don’t feel like it’s the right road to go down. Do it for the right reasons.
