Scorpio in Love – 12 Different Love Affairs

Each sign of the Zodiac expresses certain energies in certain ways.  There are four elements: air, earth, fire, and water.  Air represents thought; earth represents practical life; fire represents action, and water represents emotions.  There are three modalities: cardinal, fixed, and mutable.  Cardinal signs lead; fixed signs establish, and mutable signs adapt.

Each sign influences the energy of how we love, work, play, raise a family, make friends, and so on.  This article will explore the sign Scorpio and how it loves and is loved by all 12 Zodiac signs.

Scorpio: The Fixed Water Sign

Scorpio’s most common perception, as a sign, tends to be the dark, intense sexual quality that is, in fact, part of its nature.  Often known as “the spy”, Scorpio transforms whatever and whoever comes into its “range”.  This sign rules death, regeneration, elimination, and sexuality.

As the ruler of the 8th House, its energy oversees the shared resources that mix when people become intimate with one another, binding them together in ways that are often difficult and painful to separate.  Someone with a Scorpio Sun, Moon, or Ascendant (but especially the Moon) will seek to engage in lessons of power with the person they love.

Scorpio and Love

The Scorpio parent, child, or lover shows and feels love when they know the power dynamics of their relationships.  There is a deep need to understand how power works, especially at the emotional level between any two people, whether a lover, friend, family member or co-worker.

This sign, like all the water signs, is emotive … turned on by sharing or withholding feelings.  They are one of the best and most adept persuaders and manipulators.  The more complex and intense the emotions, the more turned on they become.  They also like to go hard and deep between the sheets, so do not be surprised if they want you (because they are willing themselves) to go into the darker corners of sexuality, lust, and love in order to find out the truth of self that only intense experiences can reveal.

Scorpio, Love, and the 12 Signs

Aries

Aries is a cardinal fire sign that likes to “go for it” in love.  This sign is inconjunct with Scorpio, which would normally create ongoing tension between the two signs.  However, in traditional astrology, they were both ruled by Mars (before the discovery of Pluto), so they can do quite well together, usually in the short term.  Something longer term will require more work than either might want to exert, especially for the Aries, who is plenty turned on by the sexual intensity, but not by the possessiveness that is a trademark of Scorpio (even the healthiest ones).

Taurus

Taurus is the fixed earth sign that likes to “settle down” in love.  This sign opposes Scorpio, which means they work to find balance to make the relationship last.  This combination can be the most intense and the longest lasting of any combination in the Zodiac.  These are two fixed signs defined by perseverance, sensuality, and power.  This is a love that can and will endure.

Gemini

Gemini is the mutable air sign that likes to “learn and communicate” in love.  This sign is inconjunct with Scorpio and much more challenging to work out than the Aries/Scorpio inconjunct.  Outside of Aries, Taurus, Cancer, Aquarius, and Capricorn, the remaining signs will be very much “at the mercy of” Scorpio, which can be healthy or unhealthy depending on the health of the Scorpio involved.  Scorpio can love the Gemini, who will “be up for anything” as long as the Gemini individual gets to learn something new.

Cancer

Cancer is the cardinal water sign that likes to “nurture” in love.  As another water sign, these two signs end up trining one another, which means their energies interact by flowing into each other.  This can be a tricky energy to “get right” because of the overall intensity of emotions, but if they do, then it’s a relationship for the ages and the poets. The Scorpio person can reveal their hidden self to the Cancer individual and the Cancer can be Scorpio’s “one and only”.

Leo

Leo is the fixed fire sign that likes to “romance” in love.  This sign squares Scorpio, which means its energy conflicts with Scorpio’s energy.  Leo likes to shine and perform, and Scorpio prefers to operate from hidden depths.  Still, as two fixed signs, if they do come together romantically, parting is unlikely. It will just end up like a volcano of a relationship.  Think of craving something spicy and eating it even though you know it is going to upset your stomach.

Virgo

Virgo is the mutable earth sign that likes to “serve” in love.  This sign sextiles Scorpio, meaning that these energies complement one another.  Remember that, for Scorpio, love is a power dynamic.  In this case, Virgo will be comfortable serving Scorpio, especially if the Scorpio individual is clear about what they want and how they want it.  This can be very enjoyable for both in bed and out in the world.

Libra

Libra is the cardinal air sign and it “sits beside” Scorpio in the Zodiac.  This aspect is known as a semi-sextile, and, like the inconjunct, is challenging and often incongruent interaction.  If these people fall in love, then they will have a lot to learn from each other because their perspectives will be very different.  After all, Venus rules Libra and Mars/Pluto rules Scorpio, so they really do represent the “odd couple” if they are in a relationship.

Scorpio

Scorpio to Scorpio relationships can work; doubling down on intensity is not a problem for this sign.  But if one or both are unhealthy, then truly dark paths can lead them into painful and destructive behavior.  If they are able to put forth the positive energy of the sign, then this couple will be emotionally fearless and willing to go into the deepest recesses of the psyche and sexual experiences together.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign that likes to “adventure” in love.  It “sits beside” Scorpio in the Zodiac.  This aspect is known as a semi-sextile, and, like the inconjunct, is challenging and often incongruent interaction.  If these people fall in love, then they will have a lot to learn from each other because their perspectives will be very different.  After all, Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Mars/Pluto rules Scorpio, so they really do represent the “odd couple” if they are in a relationship.

Capricorn

This sign sextiles Scorpio, meaning that these energies complement one another.  Remember that, for Scorpio, love is a power dynamic.  In this case, Capricorn will desire the fixed and intense support that Scorpio can bring, and Scorpio will want the leadership and responsibility that Capricorn can bring.  Unlike the “odd couples” of Libra/Scorpio and Sagittarius/Scorpio, this is the “power couple”.  Great achievement over a long period of time is possible for this love affair.

Aquarius

Aquarius is the fixed air sign that likes to “revolutionize” in love. This sign squares Scorpio, which means its energy conflicts with Scorpio’s energy.  Aquarius likes to individuate and idealize, especially for the benefit of the community.  Still, as two fixed signs, if they do come together romantically, parting is unlikely. Aquarius can more than handle the intensity of Scorpio because it is the most emotionally detached sign of the Zodiac, which in certain ways, can strongly attract the Scorpio person.

Pisces

Pisces is the mutable water sign that likes to “imagine” in love. As another water sign, these two signs end up trining one another, which means their energies interact by flowing into each other.  This can be a tricky energy to “get right” because of the overall intensity of emotions from Scorpio and the “boundarylessness” of the Pisces.  Like the Scorpio/Virgo relationship, this one has the Pisces adapting to the Scorpio, which can be a great match if both parties are satisfied with their roles and by the other person.
