Quick Kitchen Magick for the Holidays

Did you know that you have all the most necessary tools for kitchen magick in your house right now? Kitchen witchery is easy and accessible, so even the most novice chefs can utilize this practice with ease. This holiday season you can be cooking up stews that soothe, cakes for good luck, and cookies for protection. Read on to learn how!

Intention is Everything

Magick can be boiled down to one very simple principle: where you put intention matters. But what is intention and how does it relate to kitchen witchery?

Intention is a mindfulness practice which has a particular aim. When practicing mindfulness you have to slow down and learn to be more present in the moment. The Buddhists like to do so without judgement or agenda, they practice simply being present for what is, not what could be. However, in witchcraft, you’ll want to learn to walk the delicate tightrope of the present moment and what you intend to come to fruition.

I’m sure you’ve heard someone reply to the question of why the food is so good by saying, “it was made with love!” You may have previously thought that idea was just a bit of whimsy and fun, but doesn’t food made with the intention of love actually taste better?

Sigils

Sigils: What are They and How Do You Use Them?

So, Sigils are symbols which contain the energy of a spell or intention. Usually the letters of the intention are written, overlapping one another to create a unique emblem.

For one off spells you can etch the symbols into your veggies, especially root veggies like carrots and potatoes. For more long lasting spells you can burn the symbols on your wooden utensils, that way everything you stir, mash or flip with it will be imbued.

Use Blessings

Humans have long since blessed their food, but what is a spoken blessing over a home cooked meal if not a spell? Practice speaking to your food throughout the cooking process. This will raise the vibration of the magick and help keep the intention strong.

Mindful Eating and Your Altar

It’s all too easy to look at your phone while you eat dinner, but there’s so much you’re missing out on. If you have made food with an intention you must eat mindfully, being present with each taste and bite. Keep your intention in mind as you chew and swallow. The more focused you are on the sensation of eating, the more fruitful your spell will be!

Lastly, if you have an altar out for your loved ones or spirit guides, don’t forget to leave some food out for them. Ancestors especially love to see family recipes on their altars.
