Lilith Ingress

Lilith Ingress – Unwavering Devotion

The month of May will include four ingress changes: Mercury leaving Aries and entering Taurus then leaving Taurus and entering Gemini, Venus leaving Aries and entering Taurus, Mars leaving Gemini and entering Cancer, and Lilith leaving Aquarius and entering Pisces. Ingress results in a change in tone and meaning for a point, which is an energy shift designed to promote and continue growth as well as change on a regular and ongoing basis. Each point moves at a different speed, so the ingress for Mercury, which is faster than Mars, happens more frequently and is part of a recurring cycle in which every point eventually “returns” to the same degree as part of its elliptical cycle around the Sun. This article will look at Lilith’s ingress from Aquarius to Pisces.

What Does Lilith Represent in the Astrology Chart?

This point is not commonly used in the casting of most charts, even though an entire book was written about this point by Demetra George in 1992: Mysteries of the Dark Moon: The Healing Power of the Dark Goddess. I have found it a very useful point in the charts I cast, finding it an excellent feminine match, and even co-ruler, with Pluto in Scorpio. It spends approximately 9 months in a sign and entered Aquarius on August 6, 2018. On May 3 at 3:12 pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) Lilith will leave Aquarius and enter Pisces.

It will stay in Pisces until January 26, 2020, when it will leave Pisces and enter Aries. We have seen and felt polarizing energy throughout the world while it moves through Aquarius, the sign associated with idealism about society. It is important to understand that idealism is not “good” or “bad” but highly crystalized belief. Hence, isolationism is as much an ideal for some as globalism is for others.

Lilith is the point associated with what we are unyielding about, where we “stand our ground no matter what”. Lilith, also known as Black Moon Lilith, is a calculated point for the position of the Moon when it is furthest out in its orbit around the Earth at the time of your birth. It is also tied to primitive impulses and the deepest of desires. In Christian mythology, Lilith was Adam’s first wife, who refused to submit to him and was cast out of the Garden of Eden. She became the mother of demons and has appeared in various works of fiction as the first vampire.

Changing the Tone, Changing the Meaning

In Pisces, Lilith energy will permeate the consciousness of the global community and find expression through us as individuals. The last time Lilith moved through Aquarius and made ingress into Pisces was October 2009 to the end of June 2010. At that time the world was facing a global economic crisis, triggered by the home lending bubble in the United States.

Since that time, political policies worldwide have moved in an isolationist direction with anti-global leaders gaining power and migration and immigration becoming negative actions that the most prominent countries are currently trying to limit and restrict. Recognizing Lilith in a chart and in an article like this one is an attempt to bring to light the darker impulses of humanity, and our own individual energy, so we can process them in a healthy rather than unhealthy way.

When I was born, my Lilith was at 22 degrees 35 minutes (22d35m) of Taurus in my 7th House of Partnerships. I have had to process a number of “dark” experiences related to my relationships, as far back as when I first started dating and well into my mature adult life. My first Lilith return took place in 1977, at the time when I moved from the South of the United States to the North, and really learned how cruel children could be to an outsider, especially from such a culturally different divide as the North and South in the US.

My next Lilith return took place in 1986, the year I graduated from high school and started college and had my first intimate relationships, learning about my sexuality and what mattered to me in that realm of experience. Slower moving points really give us the opportunity to see sometimes “seismic” shifts in our consciousness and then anticipate the next ones in front of us. My next Lilith return will be in 2021.

Lilith in Pisces

After Aquarius “idealism” the move into Pisces can really reveal the shared “darkness” and unyielding qualities of the current human consciousness. Pisces is associated with dreams, purpose, delusion, and surrender; these energies will be “writ large” for the time period between May 3, 2019, and January 26, 2020. Hopefully, we will experience a consciousness shift that honestly recognizes and processes the impulsive instincts much of the world is facing and feeling with regard to the essential and currently competing ideas of tribalism/isolationism and one world/globalism.

As with any material I write about regarding astrology, it is most useful if you know your own chart. In my case, Pisces rules my 5th House of Creativity and will have the strongest impact on my own sense of creating in this life at this time. The 5th House also rules children, if you have them, and I do, a daughter, stepdaughter, and two stepsons, so I can expect some triggering around them with this point moving through this area of my chart. As it turns out, I have three points in Pisces, my Imum Coeli (the nadir of the chart), Hygeia (our health point), and Vesta (our hearth and home energy). I will be paying particular attention as Lilith gets closer to all three of the points near the middle of its journey through Pisces, so in August to October.

Generally speaking, Lilith in Pisces is about what is deeply hidden, but also profoundly driving our beliefs. For this reason, we will have to see if our world fractures more or finds a way to heal and mend together. It will be up to human consciousness among individuals to make a choice about either fear or hope that will coalesce into a global consciousness tilting the scales of interaction towards more walls or even more open borders and the free flow of goods and people throughout the world.
