The Astrology of Kamala Harris and the US: A Legend in the Making
September 30, 2024 | Jasmine Wolfe
After the major shock of President Biden dropping from the race, VP Kamala Harris has brought on a surge of support from younger voters. Is she the saving grace of the DNC, or is the new candidate just a younger, shiny version of the devil we know? Let’s use astrology to explore Vice President Harris’ potential presidency.
They Make a Perfect Pair
There are 4 major house cusps in an astrology chart. They are known as the ascendant (1st house cusp), IC; AKA the Imum Coeli (4th house cusp), the descendant (7th house cusp), and the MC; AKA Medium Coeli or midheaven (10th house cusp).
The ascendant is the greatest signifier of who you are, personality-wise. The IC is your roots and early childhood. The descendant shows who you are drawn to. The MC is your legacy and what you’ll work to become. When we share these points in our chart with another, the effect is one of synthesis. You might catch yourself saying “I feel like i”ve known you my whole life!”

Kamala Harris and the US have this bond. As a Gemini ascendant and Sagittarius descendant, Harris feels both drawn to and equally wanted by the US’ own Sagittarius ascendant and Gemini descendant.
In simple terms, Harris gets the US and has a strong drive to become the next president.
Kamala Harris has an Aquarius Saturn which sits atop the US’ own Aquarius moon. When planets in two charts share a sign (and a close degree) it means they are conjunct. In astrology, a conjunction is the strongest relationship that planets can form.
Saturn is the planet of rules, restrictions, duty and responsibilities. Saturn is also the planet associated with karma. The moon is emotional wellbeing, overall mood, and the kind of care and nurturance one needs throughout life.
It’s likely that Harris brings a calming yet paternal energy to a US presidency. She is the container needed to safely allow the US to grow and heal.

With the karmic aspect of Saturn, and the belief in reincarnation (a necessary belief to understand karma), it could be possible that she has been in a position similar to this one in a past life, and is either rectifying a mistake or continuing a legacy.
But Does the US Want What’s Good for it?
Kamala Harris has a Uranus in Virgo, which squares off against the US’ Sagittarius rising.
Uranus is the planet of revolution! When it aspects nicely with planets in another chart it can inspire great change, thrills and excitement. However, Harris’ Uranus is in a square to the US’ ascendant, so what are the implications there?
Not surprisingly it means that, even if Harris does know what’s best for the US and has the means to enact change, the larger governing bodies and peoples of the US will not like it. In the US everyone has a different idea about what change and progress should look like, and Harris’ version is going to upset the status quo.
Harris has a north node in Gemini, conjunct the US’ Mars in Gemini.
The north node is the point in the chart which represents the greater story-arc of our life. It’s like the big theme we will grapple with and hopefully succeed in throughout the course of our life. Mars is the planet of drive, energy and war.

The powerful combination of these two points in the chart suggests that Harris is unafraid of long term goals and the effort it takes to achieve them. For better or for worse, she wants to help both her and the US to come out on top. In fact, this may be what she was always meant to do.
But Kamala Harris May Lose Herself to the Presidency
Pluto is the planet that astrologers have had on their tongues for the past few years. With Pluto’s ingress into Aquarius ushering in a new time period for the world, as well as the US going through its first Pluto return.
Pluto has an approximate 250 year orbit, so it spends a few decades in each sign. This makes it the primary generational planet. For instance, Millennials have Pluto in Scorpio while Gen X has theirs in Libra. Gen Z has Sagittarius Pluto and Gen Alpha have got Pluto in Capricorn.
And you might be familiar with the concept of a Saturn return, a time in your late twenties/early thirties where Saturn returns to the exact place it was in when you were born. Since Pluto has such a long orbit only things like nations and countries go through Pluto returns–the US is still in it right now!
As Pluto sits on the edge of Capricorn and Aquarius, it creates a stalemate with Harris’ sun and moon. This means that while this is a terrific time of change for the US, it will force a change of self deep within VIP Harris.
It begs the question: how much of yourself can you really hold onto when you become the president of the US?
If you spend any time on social media you’ll remember the onslaught of memes that hit the internet very shortly after Biden dropped out and suggested Harris for the new Democratic pick. This is likely to do with the fact that Kamala Harris’ Venus in Virgo is conjunct The US’ Neptune.
Venus is the planet of beauty and Neptune is the planet of art and fantasy. When these two dreamy, romantic planets meet up in a conjunction between charts such as this we find the muse and artist relationship.
Some presidents slink away into obscurity, only remembered as a line in a song that school kids have to memorize. With this astrological aspect it’s fair to say that as a president, Harris will not be forgotten. No matter what her overall impact is on the country, we will remember and immortalize her through art.
