Much of American cinema, especially the blockbusters in the action genre, where the individual saves the day, is very Aries. Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
Starring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller, the plot involves a group of misfits entering a Las Vegas dodgeball tournament to save their cherished local gym, Average Joe’s Gymnasium, from being closed by a corporate health fitness chain, Globo Gym. Vince Vaughn, an Aries himself, plays the leader of the underdog group, while Ben Stiller plays the villainous Globo Gym owner.

Aries is a sign that loves to fight for the underdog. The comedy is physical; one of its classic lines, delivered by the wheelchair-bound coach, played by Rip Torn, is “if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball”.
The “good guys” and “bad guys” are outlandish and over the top, which will certainly tickle an Aries’ funny bone. The final build-up to the tournament produces a match filled with superhero-like teams of competitors in spandex costumes with hilarious names.

A History of Violence
Starring Viggo Mortensen and Maria Bello, the plot involves a small-town diner owner (Mortensen) who is thrust into the spotlight after killing two criminals and murderers who threaten customers in his diner. He does so with surprising skill and ruthlessness, igniting the plot which reveals that he is a former hitman who left his own criminal past behind to start a family in a small town in Midwest America.
Why Aries Will Love It
Aries is a sign of the warrior and soldier; they will do what must be done. Also, Aries loves a great redemption story and appreciates the narrative of the violent perpetrator, who becomes the loving protector. The action sequences, romance (between Mortensen and Bello’s characters), and the intense performances of all the actors will keep Aries glued to the screen until the very end. Like Dodgeball, one of the lead actors, Bello, is an Aries.
Action
Haywire
Starring Gina Carano, an Aries herself, and a former mixed martial arts champion, in her first movie, “the plot centers on Mallory Kane (Carano), a black ops operative who is betrayed by her employers and targeted for assassination in a conspiracy that she is forced to unravel” (wiki). The story is told through a sequence of beautifully choreographed fight scenes showcasing Carano’s skill as a real-life fighter.

Why Aries Will Love It
Aries appreciates a truly skilled fighter, especially one that can handle himself or herself in unarmed combat, using both skill and power. Following the “one against the many” theme that Aries so enjoys, the movie delivers one of the most spectacular fight scenes in the cinema when Carano and Michael Fassbender face off in a hotel room.
When Fassbender’s character talks to the man who wants Carano’s character killed (played by Ewan MacGregor) before he meets her, MacGregor’s character warns Fassbender’s, “Oh, you shouldn’t think of her as being a woman. No, that would be a mistake.”
Romance
First Knight
Starring Richard Gere, Julia Ormond, and Sean Connery, this takes on King Arthur and focuses on the ill-fated love between Lancelot and Guinevere. Their romance destroys Arthur and brings down Camelot.
The story has been retold many times, so there is no plot twist to expect, which is not a problem for an Aries viewer. The romance, action, and tragedy will all strike the right chords through the charismatic performances of the three actors.

Aries most definitely want action in a romance movie, and they want intense feelings. The true heart of the story of Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere is the deep and profound love they each feel for one another, which certainly comes through in all the performances.
Even the poetic license taken to reshape the plot into something more “Hollywood” will appeal to Aries, who is not a stickler for historical or literary accuracy.

Chicken Little
A piece of the sky literally falls on the head of a young chicken in this 2005 Disney animated film. Keeping with the underdog theme Aries loves so well, Chicken Little tells the story of a courageous chicken who must come to the rescue of his fellow citizens when aliens invade earth. A collection of misfits bands together to save the world. And the film includes a hilarious dodgeball scene.
Why Aries Will Love It
This film includes the all-time best quote for Aries, “today is a new day!” In this movie, the Aries viewer see the indomitable will that defines the sign. No matter what the odds, Chicken Little finds a way to keep his positive attitude, sense of humor, and heroic belief that he can win the day, especially with the odds stacked against him.
The humor is fast-paced and the action sequences are extremely funny, which Aries will appreciate. Aries children will see themselves in the main character quite easily.
Fantasy
Excalibur
The second Arthurian film to make the list, this version has a much more mystical story than First Knight, which takes a more historical romance approach. Produced in 1981 and directed by John Boorman, this version of the Arthurian legend is still considered one of the best, if not the best. Truly a sword and sorcery film, the special effects and creativity of the film hold up even today.
Why Aries Will Love It
Really a complete movie for almost all the signs. The action, romance, and quest to do what is right and goodwill appeal to the Aries viewer. Arthur’s legend as the one true king, the errant knight Lancelot, the beautiful maiden conflicted by duty and love, the powerful wizard, Merlin, and evil sorceress Morgan Le Fay strike all the right notes for Aries, who loves a story about the struggle between good and evil.
